– Quines opcions de turisme sostenible es planteja avui el govern balear?

Un dels eixos fonamentals és trencar amb l’estacionalitat del nostre destí. A través del desenvolupament de nous productes turístics i una correcta promoció dels mateixos, enguany les xifres mostren l’inici d’una redistribució del nombre de turistes, perllongant la temporada alta als mesos d’octubre i maig. També estem desenvolupant un Pla d’Intervenció en Àmbits Turístics (PIAT) a Mallorca per tal de regular el planejament i assolir un nou model territorial, paisatgístic i turístic responsable. Però el que sens dubte és la gran aposta d’aquest Govern és el nou Impost del Turisme Sostenible que ha permès posar en marxa 108 projectes per valor de 94 milions d’euros que es dediquen a millorar la destinació amb la protecció del medi ambient, la recuperació del patrimoni històric o la recerca científica, entre d’altres finalitats.

– Hi ha consens entre operadors turístics, entitats i ciutadania per impulsar un turisme sostenible?

Si, hi ha un ampli consens per treballar cap a un equilibri econòmic i social en l’activitat turística. La gran concentració que vivim a l’estiu davant la davallada forta de l’hivern no és sostenible ni econòmica ni socialment. És compartida la visió que les limitacions al turisme són necessàries si es vol fer que aquesta activitat sigui sostenible en el futur. En aquest sentit, el Govern ha treballat per tal de recuperar el deteriorament de les condicions laborals dels treballadors dels darrers anys i per construir un model diversificat que generi llocs de feina de qualitat. Les organitzacions patronals i sindicals han fet enguany un gran esforç en l’acord d’un conveni sectorial històric per redistribuir la riquesa que genera el turisme i avançar cap al model econòmic i social que defensa aquest govern.

– Considera que el turisme de sol i platja instaurat a Balears és compatible amb la sostenibilitat?

Les Illes Balears han estat tradicionalment una comunitat receptora de turisme de masses o de sol i platja amb la consegüent pressió humana i deteriorament de part del nostre paisatge. Des del Govern de les Illes Balears, en aquesta legislatura hem replantejat la política turística i ens hem marcat com a repte crèixer a l’hivern i decrèixer a l’estiu, un gir que caldria haver fet fa 10 anys. Per aconseguir-ho i davant el fort arrelament d’aquest model, hem aturat radicalment la promoció de les Illes de cara a l’estiu i ens hem centrat en millorar la despesa turística, posar en valor els productes i serveis que ja s’ofereixen però al marge del sol i platja. Tenim molt present que el turisme és el principal motor de la nostra economia, però en la nostra condició d’arxipèlag també sabem que no podem seguir creixent sense límits per respecte als nostres recursos.
